Every dog owner would love to have at least one professional quality photo of their dog to hang on the wall, sit on sideboard or have on their desk. However, the entry level to this is typically a one hour photo shoot, costing in the region of 400-600, for up to 5-10 photos, all shot with someone you possibly haven't met before.

If you want high quality photos at a different time of year, at different locations, under different lighting conditions, with other family members in the shots, with the dog doing something completely different, etc..., you'll need to shell out another 500 CHF, and so it goes on.

I think most owners would like to have several professional quality photos of their dog(s), taken in many different settings. However, the typical professional dog photography service model just doesn't seem to provide that opportunity at anything like a reasonable price point.

How can we change this situation, so that is is possible for owners to get several pictures, from several different settings at a much lower cost, in a way that is convenient and cost effective for them, and is a viable business model for the photographer?

My suggestion is to create a situation where a photographer, supports members of a large community, to each achieve that goal, by focussing on offering a range of photo opportunities throughout the year, that each potentially involve multiple owners.

Setting up sessions that can handle multiple clients during one session, in a series of mini shoots, brings efficiencies for the photographer and also reduces the time, and organisational investment required on the client side for multiple solo shoots. When this is combined with a convenient way of delivery for the dog owner, ie. something that they can fit into their routine walking schedule, we're all winners.

That is the essential thought process behind the scheduled sessions.

-
Plan sessions capable of accommodating multiple clients.
-
Make those sessions varied and interesting
-
Make the sessions easy to book and eliminate per-shoot ordering / payments.
-
Reduce the time investment required by each owner to get photos from a range of settings
