Walkies Sessions FAQ

What are Walkies Sessions?

Walkies Sessions are scheduled photo sessions, within Canton ZH, held at popular dog walking locations or themed venues, typically lasting 1-3 hours.

Themed locations offer fantastic opportunities for dog photography but may not be typical dog walking spots, like the Küsnacht Horn, by lake Zürih, at sunset.

During a Walkies Session, I’m available to take photos of any dogs in a series of “mini photo shoots” lasting from 3 to 20 minutes.

There’s no need to register in advance or pay for the photo session.

I can even capture spontaneous moments of dogs and their owners, with no prior contact required. However, to view or purchase the photos taken, an email address is needed to set up a private online gallery. This email can be provided at the Walkies Session or through this website beforehand.

How do I take part in a Walkies Session?

  1. Find a Session: Check the Walkies Session Calendar to identify a session that interests you.

  2. Registration: While you don’t need to register online, I recommend doing so. This allows me to inform you of any schedule changes.

  3. Set Up Your Gallery: If you’ve never attended a ZGCDogs photo session before, please sign up for a Taster Package Gallery Set-Up (see actions on the ZGCDogs homepage). This will enable me to place your photos in a private online gallery.

  4. Join the Session: Simply show up with your dog at the Walkies Session location during the scheduled time. If I’m busy with another dog, just let me know you’re there, and I’ll aim to be with you in 5-20 minutes.

  5. Photo Availability: Photos will be available online within 1-2 days.

What is the target customer base for Walkies Sessions?

Walkies Sessions are aimed at anyone looking for professional outdoor photos of their dog. Whether you’re interested in a one-off session, a few times a year, or want regular content for your dog’s Instagram page, these sessions cater to all.

They can also serve as opportunities for family photo shoots or for capturing moments with visiting friends and relatives.

While the photo shoot time may be a bit short for highly posed or more demanding shots, you can still achieve a lot in just a few minutes.

Are Walkies Sessions of any interest to non-ZH residents?

Absolutely! If you’re visiting Zurich with your dog, you can participate in a Walkies Session to get professional photos taken during a quick walk. If this is your first experience with ZGCDogs, you can register for a Taster Session and purchase the photos for 10-30 CHF.

If you visit Zurich regularly or are interested in Pack Events across Switzerland, a Four Seasons Package could also be a great option for you.

How much does it cost to attend a Walkies Session?

Attending Walkies Sessions is completely free of charge.

I aim to photograph multiple dogs during each 1-3 hour session, so there’s no individual session fee.

While registration isn’t mandatory, it’s recommended so I have an idea of who might attend and can inform you of any scheduling changes.

Walkies Sessions are supported by fees from Four Seasons Packages and Taster Package photo purchases, and they also provide a great opportunity for me to meet potential new clients.

How long is a Walkies Session photo shoot?

Walkies Session photo shoots, as part of the Taster Package, typically last 5-10 minutes, which is usually sufficient to capture 3-5 good photos.

For Four Seasons Package members, the duration can be extended up to 20 minutes if desired, allowing for 10-20 quality photos.

The length of the shoot may vary based on several factors, including the type or theme of the session, its popularity, the mood and behavior of the dog, and any time constraints of the owner.

What is the frequency of Walkies Sessions?

There isn’t a fixed weekly schedule, but I aim to offer at least 100 sessions throughout the year.

The goal is to align Walkies Sessions with popular dog walking times and locations, when owners are most likely to be interested in participating in a mini photo shoot.

Weather and seasonal conditions significantly influence session frequency. For example, rainy weeks in early October may see fewer sessions, while the appearance of autumn colors and sunshine could lead to an increase in sessions.

Winter snowfalls might also prompt Walkies Sessions in higher elevations.

Themed sessions, such as paddleboarding, fetch, or frisbee-catching, will also be more common during specific times of the year.

In the summer, sessions in the Küsnacht Tobel to escape the heat will occur frequently.

I’m always open to suggestions for new locations and themes for Walkies Sessions. The main consideration is that at least 3-4 dog owners, ideally more, should express interest in a particular session to make it worthwhile.

How far in advance do Walkies Sessions appear in the calendar?

There’s no fixed lead time for scheduling Walkies Sessions. Sometimes I plan sessions weeks in advance, while at other times (like right after a snowfall), I may create entries with less than 24 hours' notice.

I strive to keep the calendar up-to-date and will not cancel any session listed with less than three hours' notice. Since these sessions are local for most people, I believe this should be manageable.

I reserve the right to reschedule, move, or cancel sessions if circumstances change, such as adverse weather conditions, requests for paid or time-sensitive photo sessions, or if no one registers interest in a session.

To stay informed about a specific session, the best approach is to register your interest on this website. This way, I’ll know to keep you updated on any changes.

How are notifications of, and changes to Walkies Sessions communicated?

The primary platform for notifications and communication about Walkies Sessions is this website.

I also offer a WhatsApp group as a secondary means of communication.

For on-the-spot communication, such as coordinating meet-ups at a live Walkies Session, you can contact me directly at 078 697 69 35.

Can you take photos of me, my friends & family at a Walkies Session?

Yes, as long as you are accompanied by a dog!
